Ovolo Central
First Impressions
Walking into Ovolo Central feels like stepping into someone’s impossibly stylish apartment — if that someone happened to have impeccable taste and a serious budget. This five-star boutique hotel sits right in the heart of Central district on Arbuthnot Road, and honestly, the location alone is worth the splurge. The lobby has this effortlessly cool vibe that’s distinctly Hong Kong — modern without being sterile, with pops of color that somehow work perfectly against the sleek lines.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s brilliant about staying here? You’re literally in the thick of everything that makes Central special. I mean, you can walk to the Mid-Levels escalator in about three minutes, and all those trendy bars and restaurants in Lan Kwai Fong are practically on your doorstep. The IFC Mall is close enough for serious shopping, but you’re also just steps away from the more authentic side of Hong Kong — those narrow streets where locals actually eat and drink. Couples especially seem to get this location (they rate it nearly 9 out of 10), and I can see why — there’s something romantic about being able to wander through different neighborhoods without needing taxis or the MTR.
The Rooms
The rooms at Ovolo Central are smaller than what you’d find in most luxury hotels — this is Hong Kong, after all — but they’ve made every square inch count. The design is playful yet sophisticated, with these unexpected touches that make you smile. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathrooms feel more spacious than they actually are thanks to clever mirror placement. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to create a sense of calm despite being in one of the world’s busiest cities — the soundproofing actually works.
Dining & Breakfast
Breakfast here is surprisingly thoughtful for a boutique property. They’ve got the usual continental spread, but what sets it apart is how well they handle dietary restrictions — proper vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The coffee is decent (important when you’re dealing with jet lag), and there’s enough variety to keep you happy for several days. I actually found myself lingering over breakfast longer than usual, partly because the dining area has these great views and partly because the staff genuinely seems to care about getting things right.
Why Guests Love It
What makes Ovolo Central work is how it balances luxury with personality — it’s polished without being pretentious. The service feels personal rather than scripted, and the staff actually knows the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations. Recent guests consistently praise the location (rating it 8.6), and after spending time here, I get it. You’re paying for more than just a room — you’re paying for access to the best of Hong Kong right outside your door, wrapped up in a package that feels both indulgent and authentic. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re experiencing the city rather than just visiting it.

Nice room in the upper floors so silent
Nice crew
Very convenient
Despite the fact that the hotel is not new, our room had a lot of nice stuff, like free snacks, Alexa speaker etc. The bed was comfortable, the room has a desk (which was really important coz I had to work). Overall, the hotel was very good.
