Camlux Hotel
First Impressions
Walking into Camlux Hotel, you immediately get the sense this is a place that knows its audience. The lobby has that polished, professional feel of a solid four-star property without trying too hard to impress — which honestly, I found refreshing. It’s tucked away on Wang Kwong Road in Kowloon Bay, and while that might not sound glamorous, there’s something appealing about being in a real working part of Hong Kong rather than stuck in the tourist bubble.
The Neighborhood Reality
Kwun Tong District isn’t where most first-time visitors end up, but that’s actually part of the charm here. You’re in an area where locals live and work — there are proper Cantonese restaurants nearby that don’t have English menus, and the MTR connections are surprisingly good once you figure them out. I mean, you can get to Tsim Sha Tsui in about 20 minutes, which isn’t bad at all. The couples who stay here seem to get it — they’re looking for something a bit more authentic than the usual hotel strip experience.
Room Experience
The room I stayed in was what you’d expect from a well-run business hotel — clean, functional, with enough space to actually unpack your suitcase properly. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel marketing speak), and the air conditioning works well, which you definitely need in Hong Kong’s humidity. What struck me was how quiet it was at night, considering you’re in such a dense urban area. The windows are well-insulated, and you don’t get the constant traffic noise that plagues so many Hong Kong hotels.
Practical Details
Here’s something I appreciated — they do breakfast to go, which is perfect if you’re the type who wants to grab something quick and get moving. No sitting around a crowded breakfast room making small talk with strangers. The staff clearly know what they’re doing; you can tell this isn’t their first rodeo. There’s decent parking available too, which is honestly a minor miracle in this city if you’re planning to rent a car for day trips to the New Territories.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is the repeat guest factor — apparently people come back here more than at most other properties, and after staying here, I can see why. It’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it delivers on the basics really well. The location works if you want to experience Hong Kong beyond the standard tourist trail, the rooms are comfortable enough that you’ll actually sleep well, and the staff treat you like a person rather than a room number. For couples especially, there’s something nice about having a reliable base in a neighborhood that feels more real than the usual hotel districts.

Guest Reviews
Good transport options to town, though quite far, but we didn't mind as we valued it being in a quiet area and the bigger size room.
